MarvelGro's Roots...
Ancient rock city of Kurunegala
About Us
The beginnings of the Company date back to the 1890’s, when it operated as a trading company. The company was located in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka, within the coconut-rich region known as the Coconut Triangle. The company made significant investments in vast stretches of land for coconut cultivation in 1935.
In 1955, while actively engaged in the fresh coconut trading business, the Chairperson of the company Captain S.I.S Hameed (M.B.E), recognised the logical opportunity for diversification and began manufacturing copra, a product derived from coconut.

Our Visionary Heritage
Technological advancement in a traditional industry
In 1998, SIS Coir Products (Pvt) Ltd was established as a separate entity to enter the fibre industry.
The new mill was equipped with modern machinery and conveyor systems and the company set up a semi-automated fibre mill for processing coir fibre.
This was the most advanced fibre mill at the time and market leaders in the trade as well as blue chip companies visited the mill and encouraged the company to help automate other mills in the region to enhance production.
German Market Penetration and Beyond
The success of Marvel Gro extended to the German market, thanks to our representative, Mr. E. Berger. Our product was featured at the prestigious BioFach exhibition in Nuremberg, Germany.
This international exposure solidified Marvel Gro’s reputation as a trusted organic potting mix, gaining recognition among wholesalers, retailers, and gardening enthusiasts alike, globally.
At S. I. S. Exports, we are proud to have introduced Marvel Gro to an international audience, sharing its exceptional qualities and contributing to sustainable and organic gardening practices worldwide.
Green Farms in the Global Picture
In 2001, SIS Exports (Pvt) Ltd was incorporated to further expand the value-added offerings in the fibre sector.
A Norwegian consultant (Mr. Arne Svinningen) of Green Farms Marawila entered the company as Director Technology & Product Integration.

Marvel Gro in the Global Picture
Marvel Gro has gained international exposure through various platforms. Our product was showcased at exhibitions organized by the Export Development Board (EDB) in the UAE and Germany.
These exhibitions provided a global stage to introduce Marvel Gro to industry experts and potential partners.
Although our presence at an exhibition in Qatar was limited, it was an opportunity to contribute to the Middle East’s green platform, even though our product was ahead of its time for their markets.
